Great news! Legacy Park’s Creative Village is taking a key step forward: receiving the $209,000 grant funding that will help us renovate Edwards and Smith Cottages and the Trustees Building to ultimately create seventeen apartment units providing affordable housing reserved for professional artists with incomes in the 30% to 80% AMI range in the Atlanta MSA.
This news post, together with our formal announcement published Thursday, February 20 in the Champion newspaper, are to make the public aware of two things:
- On or about March 13, 2025, DeKalb County will authorize the City of Decatur to submit a request to the HUD Georgia for the release of Community Project Funds under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 (FY2023 Act).
- DeKalb County has determined that, as a renovation and adaptive reuse effort, the project will have no significant impact on the human environment. Therefore, an Environmental Impact Statement under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) is not required. Additional project information is contained in the Environmental Review Record (ERR) on file at DeKalb County, Community Development Department, 178 Sams Street, Suite A3500, Decatur, Georgia 30030. and may be examined or copied on weekdays from 8:00am to 4:30pm
Any individual, group, or agency may submit written comments on the Environmental Review Record to the DeKalb County Community Development Department at 178 Sams Street, Suite A3500, Decatur, Georgia 30030. All comments received by March 7, 2025 will be considered by DeKalb County prior to authorizing submission of a request for release of funds. Comments should specify which of the above two notices they are addressing.
