Calling all trail lovers! Help us keep Legacy’s trails in top form with our inaugural Legacy Park Trail Crew volunteer event: Thursday, October 16 from 9-11am.
Legacy Park has long been a favorite for dog walkers, runners, and bird watchers, even before the City of Decatur acquired it from the United Methodist Children’s Home. Reverend Jack Amick and the Decatur High School Cross Country community turned their love of this place into a 5K course that’s since drawn thousands.
Today, visitors enjoy those marked trails as well as the narrower footpaths connecting to the East Decatur Greenway. But with that popularity comes wear. The trails now need some extra care—pruning back overgrowth, picking up trash, refreshing trail markers, and reporting fallen branches or other safety concerns. You can help!
