DESCRIPTION:Our forests and fields are the soul of Legacy Park but they contain a variety of non-native and invasive species — like kudzu\, English ivy\, Bradford pear\, and wisteria — that threaten their health. These plants can dominate the forest and outcompete the species that create a native forest canopy and a sustainable home for wildlife. \nBut thanks to the good folks of Trees Atlanta and the volunteers who come out to help them\, the threat is being systematically eliminated.  \nDo you share in their commitment? These methods calm the nervous system and help re-establish central equilibrium in the brain-body. \nCome out and join Tai Chi-Qigong 4 L.I.F.E. teacher Heidi Made for an introductory practice of Tai Chi-Qigong. Heidi enjoys moving slowly with a yin approach to the Tai Chi form. SUMMARY:South Housing Village Open House
DESCRIPTION:The City of Decatur and the Decatur Housing Authority invite the community to an open house to learn more about the South Housing Village development at Decatur Legacy Park. The Affordable/Workforce Housing being designed addresses the community goals identified in the Legacy Park Master Plan (28mb .pdf) and refined in the Housing Addendum (9mb .pdf) adopted by the Decatur City Commission. \nThe open house is scheduled for February 28\, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the Hawkins Dining Hall located at the rear of the Administration Building at Decatur Legacy Park.  It will be a drop-in format with exhibits showing the proposed master plan\, building scale\, unit distribution and other design elements allowing the community to review and comment at their convenience. \nCan’t make it? The City will be releasing an online option following the meeting\, allowing the community to review materials and comment until March 15\, 2022. \nWe’re pleased to join with the City and Housing Authority in sharing this information and getting community input on this important new housing opportunity in Decatur.

Columbia Dive\, from 11 a.m- 3 p.m. Come get your tree seedlings to plant in your yard\, neighborhood beautification project\, community center\, or youth group projects in the city. Options include Oaks (Willow\, and Red) and Understory trees (Virginia Pine and Dogwood). \nThe first 200 city residents will receive a free bicentennial tree along with an official bicentennial certificate as part of the 1000 trees by 2023 project. \nParticipants are required to wear a mask and stay in your vehicle at all times.
